Tufaceous sandstone
This is a sample of tuffaceous standstone. It consists dominantly of rhyolitic tephra (ashfall) and quart sand, and contains scattered dark rock fragments. This sample came from stratified late Tertiary-age alluvial/playa deposits in a volcanic region in the Cady Mountains, Mojave Desert, CA. |
